Dentist

Adde went to the dentist for the first time. She did really well for her "check up", which consisted of the dentist talking to me and looking in her mouth for about 1 minute. Apparently they don't attempt cleaning until age 3 at our dentist office...completely understood. She got these exam gloves there and wore them for two days straight. I made the mistake of letting her take them to nap time and twice had a screaming toddler because she needed her glove back on. A few weeks later, she still puts them on when teddy goes to the dentist. Quite the imagination!

Leaves

Once again she enjoyed the leaves.  Mark made Titus jump in the trailer so we could get pictures of the two of them together like last year.  Adde really enjoyed seeing him jump in and out.  He's such a good boy.  Almost all of our leaves have fallen for the year.  Hard to believe it's that time of year already.

Building

One day this week she started building this tower.  Very quickly she learned the order - red, blue, yellow - and was able to correctly stack the cups.  Thanks to the Potters for this great toy!

Singing

Adde's favorite songs right now are "Holy, Holy, Holy", "Trust and Obey", and the "ABCs".  The first two she sings at Bible study each week.  We have some sheet music and sing and play them at home as well.  Her teachers at Bible study say that she leads the class during "Holy, Holy, Holy".  She hasn't yet mastered the second part of that hymn.  In this video she also sings parts of "Rise and Shine".  We've noticed that when she sings her church songs, the words get a bit mixed up.  We will randomly hear a "Jesus" or "Praise Him" inserted in another song.  We admit too that we are proud that she is learning and remembering some biblical truths through song at a young age. And yes, her voice does crack at the beginning and she does sing three "holies". We just missed the first.

All about Eleanor

As promised, here are some pictures highlighting Eleanor.  It is much harder to take pictures of your second, as I'm learning first hand.

Like we did with Adde, we are taking pictures of Eleanor each month in a 12 month outfit.

Fun Facts about our one month old Eleanor (yes that was a few weeks ago):
  • weighs 8 lbs. 2 oz.
  • still 20 in. long - perhaps there was an error in measuring
  • is awake for about one hour (including feeding) and then goes back to sleep for about 3 hours.  She definitely is a sleeper and only wants to eat about every 4 hours.
  • will not take a nuk - huge surprise to us!
  • sometimes quiets down when she hears her sister's voice, especially if it is the alphabet song.
  • loves to be swaddled and held over your shoulder to fall asleep.
  • cries when she gets out of the bathtub.
  • is still wearing all newborn clothing.
  • is out and about quite a bit - every Monday and Wednesday morning for class or bible study - plus errands, church, and play dates.
  • has captured our hearts!
Here are a few more pictures of her at 6 weeks.  By then, she started smiling, but I didn't really capture any of that with the camera.

Hearing Test

Found this picture while going through some others.  It's from the hospital, and I forgot to blog about it earlier.  Her first pair of headphones for her hearing test.  She passed.  I hope she could still pass after living with Adde and her loud toys for 7 weeks.

September 26th

Someone turned two!  Here are some pictures to tell the story of her day...

Her Cake - made by the non-professional cake baker.

Her Day - we spent the day at a waterpark. We arrived when it opened at 10 and stayed until 3:30. Her only meltdown there was when we had to leave. She also did the bigger slides with us, but those were impossible to film. She had a great time, and so did we.

Her Presents - she's definitely understanding what presents are all about. Since Eleanor was born, there have been numerous presents in our house. Adde keeps asking to open presents whenever she sees them. She was quite pleased to realize that they were all for her on her birthday.

I promise soon I will do a post all about Eleanor. I have taken her one month pictures, but have yet to do anything with them. It's just hard to get pictures of her because she sleeps all the time and because I'm a little busy these days.

Haircuts

In my opinion, definitely worth the $10 to pay my hairstylist. I had no idea what I was doing, and I didn't exactly have a client who sat still. Hopefully she can live with slightly uneven bangs.
