State Fair

On Saturday morning Adde and Mark had Date Night Morning going to the State Fair since we decided barnyard animals... thousands of people... and miles of walking would be less than ideal for Mommy and Ella.

Going to the Fair has become bit of a tradition, since Boston Scientific sponsors a day for employees. This was the first time in the last 6 years that Lana has missed it, so when it came time for Adde and Mark to leave, she was fairly sad to stay behind, but we promised to bring home a bucket of Sweet Maratha's Chocolate Chip Cookies which helped ease her pain.

Addelynn liked the 'bees' on our yellow BSC shirts.

We spent a bunch of the morning going through just about every isle in about every animal barn.

We also watched part of the Dog Agility show... Adde was really into it and started cheering and clapping without any prompting. Afterward she informed me that Titus could do it (which is actually highly doubtful) and that he would be fast (which is actually plausible).

The rest of the day was spent riding tractor after tractor and exploring multiple campers while continually asking " daddy does this open?" to every single door and drawer.

Taking a stroll

Addelynn wanted to go out so we took a quick trip to the park. The 'new' stroller we got off Craig's List works pretty well. However it was a little surreal to be pushing a double stroller and realize they are both are kids. Beautiful night for a walk though....

My Beautiful Girls

Mark went to get Addelynn and brought her to the hospital around 6pm. Addelynn was super excited and talking non-stop about her baby sister.

Addelynn did a great job being gentle and holding her new baby sister. She was quite interested in the fact that Ella's crib was on wheels and informed us multiple times that she wanted to push Ella around in it.

The day is here

This morning Lana woke up with semi regular contractions around 4am. (Note: official due date was 2 more days and Addelynn was actually 1 1/2 weeks early). Overall not too painful but frequent enough that we decided Mark should stay home to see how it played out. After much waffling, around 9am we shipped Adde off to the neighbor and headed to the hospital. When we left contractions were 5-7 minutes apart.

Much to Lana's dismay, after arriving at the hospital the contractions slowed down. On the initial check, ~10am, were basically at the minimal threshold, but since it was an extremely slow day (polar opposite of last time), they decided to keep us. So the process of walking and hooking up to monitors began. This led to no shortage of Lana second guessing that we should have stayed home longer, but we were here and planned on settling in for a 'long day' (i.e. 8-10 hrs) based on how good Lana still felt and how slow the contractions were.

(in room around noon pre-drugs)

However, at noon, when the doctor did an exam, it turns out we had progressed a lot very quickly and were going to be delivering within ~2 hrs. (note: fairly opposite of 'we should still be home').

Contractions got a little more intense (and leery of the delay last time from decision to implementation), Lana ordered up the Epidural.

(Ah... after the Epidural)

Overall, delivery went like a breeze. Lana was a champ and apparently has a high pain tolerance. Almost doesn't even act like she just delivered a kid today.
