September 26th

Someone turned two!  Here are some pictures to tell the story of her day...

Her Cake - made by the non-professional cake baker.

Her Day - we spent the day at a waterpark. We arrived when it opened at 10 and stayed until 3:30. Her only meltdown there was when we had to leave. She also did the bigger slides with us, but those were impossible to film. She had a great time, and so did we.

Her Presents - she's definitely understanding what presents are all about. Since Eleanor was born, there have been numerous presents in our house. Adde keeps asking to open presents whenever she sees them. She was quite pleased to realize that they were all for her on her birthday.

I promise soon I will do a post all about Eleanor. I have taken her one month pictures, but have yet to do anything with them. It's just hard to get pictures of her because she sleeps all the time and because I'm a little busy these days.

Haircuts

In my opinion, definitely worth the $10 to pay my hairstylist. I had no idea what I was doing, and I didn't exactly have a client who sat still. Hopefully she can live with slightly uneven bangs.

Clifford's Bone

I took Adde and Grandpa to the pet store to get more food for Titus. As I'm checking out, Adde runs up to the cash register carrying this bone for Clifford. Grandpa helped her pick it out. Titus was most disappointed when he learned this bone was not for him. Surprisingly, a few weeks later, Titus has not tried to chew on this bone even though he has seriously sniffed it. Here is the game that Adde and Grandpa played with Clifford and his bone.

Holding Eleanor

Adde is obsessed with her new sister.  When Eleanor starts crying, Adde says, "I hear Eleanor.  Can I check on her?"  Upon entering the nursery, "Good morning sweetie pie!  Good morning Eleanor!  Eleanor waking up!"  Most of the time she is so excited to be around Eleanor.  A few times she has asked me to put Eleanor down when she wanted to be held instead.  We are fortunate that Adde loves her sister so much.

Diapering Adde Style

If this were a real poopy diaper, I would hate to see what Adde's hands looked like after finishing.  But I do enjoy seeing how much she imitates being a mother - to dolls, her teddy, her monkey, or anything else that she feels like mothering.  She changes diapers, wipes, burps, gives nuks, gives bottles, etc.

In the midst of cleaning she does say "She has some dirt under she body (which means bottom)."  And she is concerned about where the poopy diaper is.  "Where she poopy diaper?"  It somehow throws her off that she doesn't have a dirty one to take off.

A Few More Firsts

First visit to the doctor. All looked good and she was gaining weight like crazy. We left the hospital at 6 lbs. 2 oz. and were at 6 lbs. 11 oz. only five days later. Not sure what she weighs now, but we have her one month appointment next week.

First bottle. Adde came down after finishing her bath and was elated to see Eleanor drinking from a bottle. Personally, I think Adde was a bit disappointed that Eleanor had yet to eat from a bottle.

First Bath...

at home. Seemed to enjoy this one. And the entire pan of bath water only spilled once thanks to big sister's help. I will say that the frequency of baths for Eleanor is slightly less than it was for Addelynn.

Lots of Love

Can you tell how much Addelynn loves her little sister? She kisses her at least ten times a day. Eleanor is normally not too excited about them because most of them occur pre-feeding when she first wakes up and is hungry. We are so thankful that Adde loves her sister so much though. She is a fanatastic big sister.

Crazy Locks

This is how she woke up one morning. How do we tame this?
