Flowers

Can you tell I love taking pictures of our daughter? It's too fun when she has a cute outfit on. This album represents the different faces and actions of our little eight month old.

Soon I will show you pictures of my flower bargains. Hopefully this will make you proud mom. I spent around $25 and got 2 flats of annuals, 4 spikes, 1 hanging basket, and 6 perennials. Oh how I love a good deal.

Pampering

Apparently she is a little "girly girl" as she loves to get cleaned up and ready to go. Bath time has always been a hit, especially now that we are using the big tub. She thought being able to touch the water coming out of the faucet was a wonderful thing. It splashes her in the face, but she doesn't care one bit.

She also enjoys having her hair styled. Whenever I use the hair dryer, she then wants to take a turn.

Grandma's Handiwork

Barb brought out a foam chair with an "interesting" cover that she was planning on replacing. We went shopping for fabric and grandma cut apart the old cover to serve as a pattern. I have no idea how grandma did it (it seemed like there were so many odd shaped pieces and how did they all connect?), but Adde now has an adorable chair to match her room. Sooner than we know it she will be able to put herself in the chair to read.
Speaking of sitting, when I went in to get Adde after her second nap, she was sitting up in the crib. Apparently she can do this skill, although I have not yet seen her do it. She did it one more time that afternoon, but I was resting my eyes and did not see it that time either.

What else is she doing that's new? She's eating fruit and vegetable pieces as finger food now instead of just puffs. She starting raising her right hand up in the air like she has a question all the time. She also realized the other day that she could make her ear touch her shoulder, so she was constantly moving her head sideways to touch her shoulder. I think she learned this skill from watching me attempt to talk on the phone while taking care of her. And she now cries when I leave the room...fabulous!

Titus goes swimming

This weekend Adde got to see Titus go swimming for the first time. Surprisingly, she was somewhat indifferent to Titus in the water. She was more intrigued with all the people at the park and the boats. She didn't complain at all though, confirming that she does enjoy being outside.
Mark took Adde out on the end of the dock where Titus jumps into the water. Normally we (aka Mark) need to throw him in a few times each year before he is brave enough to jump off the end. This year he just barreled down the dock and jumped right in the first time.
Here are some videos of his amazing feat. Soon you will be seeing him on tv competing for the longest jump.

And this camera angle didn't work so well, but was funny after the fact.

Movie Wednesday

The tail is her motivation to move, which she is doing more of now. Mark is hopeful that she might actually crawl.

I am hopeful that she might actually be able to feed herself. She has become quite the eater now - about 8 ice cubes worth and some puffs at a meal.

Not Me Monday

All right Aunt Jen. We've had another one of those days, so here goes. No, not me...

  • I did not allow our four year old neighbor girl to roll down our stairs and land on her head while I was baby sitting her. No, I certainly am a much better child care provider than that.
  • I did not accidentally leave our mail sitting on top of the stroller after getting home from our walk. This would not have been an issue except for that fact that I did not leave the stroller sticking out just a little bit too far that the garage door hit the stroller when I closed it, knocking it over, and spewing our mail onto the driveway that was still damp from an earlier rain shower. Most certainly I did not discover that all this had happened as Mark was pulling in the driveway.
  • I did not make an entire blenderful of pureed carrots and then somehow manage to loose the bottom part of the blender when lifting on the handle. The entire blenderful of carrots did not spray all over the freshly painted white cabinets. I must say that seriously I did not cry about this even though I felt like it. The good news...I didn't loose all the carrots as I had saved back 5 carrot coins to cut up and feed to Adde as finger food. Trying to see the silver lining in this mess... (The picture was taken after I had already cleaned up a good portion of the mess.)
  • Lastly I did not stay up in Adde's room a little bit longer than necessary after feeding her and putting her to sleep to ensure that Mark had already finished cleaning up the remainder of the carrot mess. What a great husband I have.
I just woke up from an hour long nap and am ready for bed. This weekend definitely wore me out!

Baby Mozart

We have become a bit more aggressive in our piano playing. Check it out... You will notice too that Adde has to have her own "piano book" or she reaches for the real one non-stop.

8 Months

After two different "photo shoots" and almost a week late, the eight month pictures have finally been taken.

Here are some updates on our 8 month old:
-15 lbs. 12 oz.
-around 27 inches long (not exactly accurate as someone wanted to help)
-takes 2 long naps a day
-eats three meals, although they don't all correspond with ours
-still loves bananas
-can feed herself puffs and only puffs. We have tried peas and banana chunks and she doesn't know what to do with them. She will sort out the puffs on the tray from other food pieces and eat only those.
-sleeps for about 11 hours at night. Last night we almost made it 12.
-enjoys being outside. Simply sitting in the grass is just fine.
-definitely knows what she wants (like the tape measure during pictures). Today during our walk she started reaching out of the stroller for Titus' leash. She grabbed it and I thought it was cute that she was "taking her dog on a walk". Then I realized this is quite a safety hazard if Titus would take off after a squirrel. I tried to distract her with the black strap in her stroller that looks exactly like Titus' leash, but she had a breakdown in the stroller because she wanted the leash. After a while she decided that the strap in her stroller would do.
-has moved from saying da da to ma ma although she has no idea what they mean.

Here are some updates on our 3 year old dog:
-He is getting old. He only goes after the ball about 5 times and then he finds a spot in the shade to chew on his ball.
-He is now passed out on the ground after our walk today. He comes in, gets a drink, and then crashes for a few hours.
-He does not like it when Adde touches his paws, but does not mind the pulling anywhere else.
-He no longer charges after the mail truck barking, but has now figured out that he gets a treat from the mailman. Today he ran from the backyard when he heard/saw the mail truck and sat down quietly by the mailbox and wagged his tail. The mailman pets him and gives him a treat, and Titus wouldn't let the mailman leave our mailbox.
