Supervision

Apparently our child is in need of constant supervision. I left her in the middle of the floor in her room today to run the laundry downstairs. I looked around and thought there is nothing she can get into in the 30 seconds I will be gone. When I ran back up the stairs and into her room, I could not find her. I was freaking out as to how I had lost our daughter in 30 seconds and in her bedroom. Then I saw something moving under the crib. Somehow she crawled under, sat up, and found the radio cord to play with. Babyproofing is desperately needed asap!

Camping

Here are some pictures from our first camping trip. Thankfully it went really well and Adde did a great job. She loved being outdoors, so much so that she didn't want to take naps very well. Needless to say she passed out in her backpack carrier one morning. I thought for sure her neck was going to snap in half, but it is still intact.

Adde had her first fall this weekend of about 8 inches. She was playing on our air mattress when Titus escaped from the screen tent (He did this many times over our trip). Mark was gone, so I ran out to get him and put him back. Before I could get back in the tent, I hear a thud and a scream. Adde had rolled clear across the mattress and off the side. Oops. She can move faster than we think.

I believe that Titus and Adde are starting to become friends. On the way home, Titus slept most of the way with his head laying on her carseat. When Adde woke up, she started giggling because his head was in her lap.

Double Fisting

She's getting really serious about this eating thing.

Flowers

Can you tell I love taking pictures of our daughter? It's too fun when she has a cute outfit on. This album represents the different faces and actions of our little eight month old.

Soon I will show you pictures of my flower bargains. Hopefully this will make you proud mom. I spent around $25 and got 2 flats of annuals, 4 spikes, 1 hanging basket, and 6 perennials. Oh how I love a good deal.

Pampering

Apparently she is a little "girly girl" as she loves to get cleaned up and ready to go. Bath time has always been a hit, especially now that we are using the big tub. She thought being able to touch the water coming out of the faucet was a wonderful thing. It splashes her in the face, but she doesn't care one bit.

She also enjoys having her hair styled. Whenever I use the hair dryer, she then wants to take a turn.

Grandma's Handiwork

Barb brought out a foam chair with an "interesting" cover that she was planning on replacing. We went shopping for fabric and grandma cut apart the old cover to serve as a pattern. I have no idea how grandma did it (it seemed like there were so many odd shaped pieces and how did they all connect?), but Adde now has an adorable chair to match her room. Sooner than we know it she will be able to put herself in the chair to read.
Speaking of sitting, when I went in to get Adde after her second nap, she was sitting up in the crib. Apparently she can do this skill, although I have not yet seen her do it. She did it one more time that afternoon, but I was resting my eyes and did not see it that time either.

What else is she doing that's new? She's eating fruit and vegetable pieces as finger food now instead of just puffs. She starting raising her right hand up in the air like she has a question all the time. She also realized the other day that she could make her ear touch her shoulder, so she was constantly moving her head sideways to touch her shoulder. I think she learned this skill from watching me attempt to talk on the phone while taking care of her. And she now cries when I leave the room...fabulous!

Did I eat too much today?

Titus goes swimming

This weekend Adde got to see Titus go swimming for the first time. Surprisingly, she was somewhat indifferent to Titus in the water. She was more intrigued with all the people at the park and the boats. She didn't complain at all though, confirming that she does enjoy being outside.
Mark took Adde out on the end of the dock where Titus jumps into the water. Normally we (aka Mark) need to throw him in a few times each year before he is brave enough to jump off the end. This year he just barreled down the dock and jumped right in the first time.
Here are some videos of his amazing feat. Soon you will be seeing him on tv competing for the longest jump.

And this camera angle didn't work so well, but was funny after the fact.

Movie Wednesday

The tail is her motivation to move, which she is doing more of now. Mark is hopeful that she might actually crawl.

I am hopeful that she might actually be able to feed herself. She has become quite the eater now - about 8 ice cubes worth and some puffs at a meal.

Not Me Monday

All right Aunt Jen. We've had another one of those days, so here goes. No, not me...

  • I did not allow our four year old neighbor girl to roll down our stairs and land on her head while I was baby sitting her. No, I certainly am a much better child care provider than that.
  • I did not accidentally leave our mail sitting on top of the stroller after getting home from our walk. This would not have been an issue except for that fact that I did not leave the stroller sticking out just a little bit too far that the garage door hit the stroller when I closed it, knocking it over, and spewing our mail onto the driveway that was still damp from an earlier rain shower. Most certainly I did not discover that all this had happened as Mark was pulling in the driveway.
  • I did not make an entire blenderful of pureed carrots and then somehow manage to loose the bottom part of the blender when lifting on the handle. The entire blenderful of carrots did not spray all over the freshly painted white cabinets. I must say that seriously I did not cry about this even though I felt like it. The good news...I didn't loose all the carrots as I had saved back 5 carrot coins to cut up and feed to Adde as finger food. Trying to see the silver lining in this mess... (The picture was taken after I had already cleaned up a good portion of the mess.)
  • Lastly I did not stay up in Adde's room a little bit longer than necessary after feeding her and putting her to sleep to ensure that Mark had already finished cleaning up the remainder of the carrot mess. What a great husband I have.
I just woke up from an hour long nap and am ready for bed. This weekend definitely wore me out!
